Why talk about potential then? How do we know it when we see? Everyone in their lifetime has probably looked at someone and said, "You have a lot of potential for..." One of my biggest things in life has been helping people realize their potential. Especially young people. I am grateful to the people who have given me encouragement in my lifetime. Certainly wouldn't be where I am today without it. However, I was always yearning for specific encouragement rather then general encouragement. It is truly a gift to be able to see the potential existing in another person. I wish there were more people like that on this earth.
One thing I do know about realizing potential is that we need to get our mindset around it. If we don't think we have potential we will never realize it. Every story you hear about a person who has realized their potential speaks about the focus they have on whatever it is they are setting out to do. The thing is that I think people have way more potential then they realize. Passion is what fuels it. I think potential and passion go hand in hand. If you have the passion for it you have the potential for it. What we need is simply a shift in perspective.
With that said I want to end on my favorite quote regarding this subject by Marianne Williamson...
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
