This weekend was so much fun. I am pretty happy with my new Nikon D40. I shot with a 55-200mm lens the whole time. Downside was my flash was ineffective for fill-in at that distance and created red eye. I learned that I need a flash setup to raise my flash away from the camera to keep red eye from happening. Other than that I had an awesome time. I took over 400 pictures and I am happy with about 30 of them. So here they are...

OK I told you I would leave you comments so I am! Acually just one LONG exhaustive comment lol. OK, I love the sepia tone in picture #1. I saw you have that same picture in color farther down the page, but I love the sepia one. The second one you have in sepia (the centerpiece one) I prefer in color. Mainly because she has such beautiful hot pink flowers in the bouquet. Also I think that picture would have been better with a picture of the bride and the groom together in the background. The next two are nice, don't really have anything specific to say about them. I like the next one - something about the color of the brick and the bouquet that tie it together nicely. And then... of course, typical Jeremy taking pictures of people taking pictures. :) Always fun. Nest one is nice - I love their white lights backdrop, it's pretty. The next 2 are really great photos of the couple. They weren't looking at your camera though. I think if you're taking a photo like that, they should be looking at you - if you're taking more of an observational photo - them looking at something else, it shouldn't be such a close up. Not sure if there were too many cameras clicking or what lol. (By the way, I love how educated I'm trying to make myself sound even though I don't know a darn thing about this) . I LOVE the next one! It's one of my favorites. You captured a moment and that's why I love it. I don't even know what's going on, it's just so cute. Then there's the sepia one in color, already went over that. Next one of the photographer with the couple is good. Observational photo. At least that's what I'm calling it. The next 2 are fun, I like them. Baby picture is cute, babies are always cute. But I'm especially partial to little girls. Next one is cute too, like I said, it's hard for a baby picture not to be cute.I like this one of the little boy. I don't know what he's doing, but he sure does look like he's up to something haha. And this next one of all the kids is another one of my favorites! Once again, I have no idea what's going on but I love the expressions on their faces. I really like the next one too, it's just dear. Next one is nice. And then I LOVE the sepia of the little girl spinning in her dress. Another favorite :) The color one is nice too, but I prefer the sepia. Like the little guy making the fishy face. Love the really little guy in his tux, he's just too stinking cute. The next one of him pointing is dear too. Nice job capturing that one. The baby shoes are a great shot. The one of the little girl is adorable - probably mainly because she looks so much like the bride with that bouquet and dress, it almost looks like she's playing dress up. And now I'm getting sick of typing. And I'm sure you're getting sick of reading. But the next three are sweet too. Love the one of the little girl who looks like she fell down. And the last one is just a really great moment. SO those were my personal opinions. Nothing professional or probably even helpful. But I told you I would, so I did.
And by the way (just so I can make this a LITTLE bit longer), I think it's great that you bought the camera. These pictures are amazing and I know this is only a fraction of what you took at the wedding. But seriously, they are really good. I would hire you for my wedding haha. Ha. I had a thought that made me giggle. But good for the camera! Whoever told you that you can't do photography needs to be trout slapped lol. That's MY professional opinion. ;-) Take care hun!
so my own comments...
I got pictures of people not looking at me because I was the secondary photographer. I was always to the right or left of michaela, and usually shooting 10 or 20 yards away with a zoom lens. observational shots is a good way to put it.
My 4 favorite are these:
1. the first one of Matt dipping Chandra back. I think I could mess with it more. I want to bring the contrast more and at first I thought sepia was the answer, but Im not sure now. Still like it better then the straight color one.
2. The three kids looking at something. Everyone loves that picture. I brought the contrast way out in post processing, which is part of the reason it looks so good. I also deepened the saturation.
3. The bride against the brick background. I deepened the saturation and slightly increased the contrast. The flowers and her rosy cheeks really stand out against the brick. I just knew that was going to be a good shot. Her facial expressions were the best.
4. My favorite by a landslide is the little girl twirling with the bridesmaids in the background. Its now my second favorite photo after my camp one that I mentioned in the previous blog. The original before cropping and making it sepia was really good too. I might mess with it further, but its good as it stands.
